Fire Prevention Week is a very
special time of the year when East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company #2
sets aside full days to spend with the children in our schools, grades
K-5. We focus our training around teaching children when and how
to use "911", learning about smoke detectors and the importance of
working batteries. We remind the children about "Get Out and Stay
Out", Family meeting places, Crawl Low in Smoke and practice "Stop, Drop
and Roll". Alot of time is spent with children of all ages,
especially the youngest, learning about firefighters, how they look and
how they "sound" during a fire or emergency so that they will not be
afraid of firefighters at the time of a fire. Our firefighters try
on all their gear and airpacks and sit with the children so that they
will be comfortable with firefighters.
The rest of the time is
spent having fun with fire hoses and trying on fire gear! |
